Transporting Fish

 

For many anglers, eating fish they have caught is an important part of their outdoor heritage. Fortunately, the healthy fish stocks of Lake Nipissing make that possible, and shore lunch is an unforgettable experience. If fish are to be kept for personal consumption, please abide by the following Ontario MNR Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary and generally accepted conservation policies:
 
Possession & Catch Limits
 
 
  • Always carry a valid MNR fishing licence.
  • Abide by catch & possession limits.
  • Release all "slot size" fish.
  • Do not fish for "out of season" species.
  • Fish eaten are part of the day's limits.
  • Fish kept must not be wasted.

 

Packaging & Transporting Fish
 
 
  • MNR personnel may inspect packaged fish.
  • Fish may be cleaned & filleted.
  • Fish length must be measurable.
  • Species & number must be easily determined.
  • A large patch of skin must be left on each fillet.
  • Label packages with species, no. of fish, lake.
  • Follow MNR fish consumption guidelines.
